What Passes as Conservative These Days

On the A.M. band in the San Francisco Bay Area there are two conservative talk-radio stations and one (upstart) very liberal talk-show station.

Both conservative stations have big names. On one conservative station there are Bill O’Reilly and Michael Savage — he of the “Savage Nation.” The very liberal station loves to point out that Michael Savage isn’t his real name; it’s Michael Wiener (pronounced Weener), adding that “Weener Nation” doesn’t have a good ring to it.

Anyhow, on this selfsame conservative station there is Lars Larson — or is it Larsen? We’ll just call him Lars.

Lars is enraged that Bank of America is requiring its employees to state whether they are heterosexual, homosexual, or something else. Lars thinks the “gay” activists have gotten to Bank of America with accusations that there aren’t enough homosexuals at Bank of America, especially in top management. For Lars, it’s just another dimension of Affirmative Action.

Lars says he doesn’t care who deals with him at the bank — the employee can be white, Asian, Hispanic, or black, can be a man or a woman, can be a heterosexual or a homosexual or other, he doesn’t care. Emphasizing his point, Lars says he doesn’t care if a guy is sleeping with a woman or a man. He says he has good friends who are “gays” — he doesn’t sleep with them, but he doesn’t care with whom they’re sleeping.
