Yes, there it was on the front page of the August 8-14 National Catholic Register: The headline said “World Excommunicated.”

Wow! What an exciting newspaper the bland Register has suddenly come to be! Gotta read this! Which we did, only to discover that some bishop in Colombia excommunicated members of some guerrilla army — that’s all.

So, what gives at the Register? A little sensationalism to jolt bored readers so they don’t doze off? Or did the proofreaders doze off?
