A Double Standard

Regarding the Don Imus affair (the “shock jock” who referred to the Rutgers women’s basketball team using a racial slur): Either there should be freedom of speech for everyone, or there should be censorship for most everyone. The major companies that supported the Don Imus show pulled their advertisements for fear of a backlash. It’s all about money.

On the airwaves and in Hollywood, if there should be censorship for racists, misogynists, anti-Semites, homophobes, etc., there should also be censorship for Christophobes, Islamophobes, blasphemers, filthy language, etc. Most of the vile language has been issued by the latter.

Or there should be freedom of speech for everyone. And companies should not interfere by pulling their advertisements.
