The Cruelest Stunt

DEI is safari for leftists. They want skins, pelts to hang on the wall

A sociologist named Jason Arday died August 14, 2026, in his London home. It appears that the cause of his death was suicide.

But to any event there are circumstances, and those surrounding Dr. Arday’s death seem to shift much of the responsibility for his untimely passing onto those who used him for political gain.

Jason Arday grew up the son of Ghanaian immigrants in England. In 2023 he became the youngest black professor in the history of Cambridge University. Between his birth and his headline-making appointment, however, there was much about which to be concerned. He claimed to have been mute until age 11 (which many of his classmates from that time have refuted). He claimed to have been unable to read until age 18. He claimed to have run 30 — yes, 30 — marathons in a 35-day span, and to have run 600 (yes, 600) miles in six days on a separate occasion. Probably all of these claims are false.

But none of that should have mattered to Arday’s prospective employers at Cambridge. Unless there has been some publicity about one’s personal life, or unless the topic somehow comes up in job interviews, people at work are not likely to know or care about whether an applicant runs marathons or was mute as a child. If someone lies about such things then that is a separate matter, but at any rate Arday was, ostensibly, not being evaluated by Cambridge on his childhood speech abilities or his extracurricular activities. He was being evaluated, ostensibly, on his scholarship. And Arday’s scholarship was unmistakably bad.

Arday’s doctoral dissertation was riddled with dozens of plagiarizations. His other scholarly work exhibited a similar penchant. He claimed to have written a book published by a major academic publisher, but the book does not exist. He claimed to have a Master’s degree from the University of London, but this appears to have been a lie. He claimed to have held visiting professorships in three different countries, but those, too, appear to have been figments of his imagination.

Arday’s academic misconduct was called out by several people, fellow academics and journalists alike. Arday’s response was to cry “racism!” and to sic lawyers and the police on his questioners. Had Arday’s employers had any sense of integrity or compassion they would have looked into his work and not hired him. Or, having hired him, they would have investigated claims and quietly let him go. But Cambridge doubled down. To put it bluntly, they wanted a woke trophy. Cambridge didn’t give a damn about Jason Arday the human being. They wanted to be able to drop into conversations at fancy cocktail parties — the London ones that the Marxists and socialists and atheists and all the other “best people” attend — that they had made a black man a professor. The pinnacle of woke. The left-wing equivalent of sainthood.

Cambridge thus took part in DEI, which is another way to describe the very ancient and cruel stunt of reaping political gain at the cost of someone else’s humanity. This hateful abuse of people is the old Adam in us dressed up as cutting-edge progress. Arday was clearly a pathological liar, someone who has a serious problem telling the truth — someone who needed help, not the glare of a professorship at one of the most prominent academic institutions on the planet. Cambridge did not see him as a person, though, but as the means to an end. It was the black they saw in Arday, not the man.

Let me get down to brass tacks. DEI is safari for liberals. They want skins, pelts to hang on the wall (or, more properly, before the television and newspaper cameras). The person inside the skin is irrelevant. The institution that can most prominently tout the DEI catch wins. The catch has to live, or die, with the consequences.

And, so, Jason Arday is dead. There’s no smoking gun, but if there were any justice in the world then Cambridge dons would stand trial for his murder. For it is they who pushed him into the corner where he died.

A lot of other people need to go on trial, too. For human abuse. For treating people like tools. For DEI-ing the dignity, and sometimes the life, out of infinitely valuable children of God.

Claudine Gay got the Jason Arday treatment at Harvard a couple years ago. Gay was a serial plagiarist, too. But as with Arday, that was neither here nor there. The Harvard Corporation that runs the snootiest school in creation wanted a black face to shove in front of reporters. Gay fit the bill. Gay went along with it, sure. But she was not the author, producer, or director of that sick morality play, only its ill-starred star.

Penny Pritzker, the billionaire Obamaite and generally ruthless Democrat (her brother is governor of the corrupt state of Illinois) who runs herd over her fellow Corporation members, got Gay the Harvard president gig. When Gay got caught, Pritzker was not the one who had to sit in the hot seat. Gay took the fall. Pritzker got to look woke and with it. A black woman, through her own fault, of course, got nothing but misery. But she would have gotten a lot less misery had Pritzker seen her as a person and not as a stepping stone. You don’t make someone walk a plank while pretending to be sending them across a bridge to a brighter tomorrow.

It isn’t just England and America where this kind of thing goes on. On March 16, 2026, two small boats capsized in the ocean off the coast of Cape Henoko in Nago, Okinawa. The boats were filled with high school students who were out on what their teachers described as an educational excursion. In reality, the students were being used by a left-wing activist group to protest the Camp Schwab US Marine Corps base at Cape Henoko. The students were human shields. The “educational excursion” was a pretext for the left-wingers to get close to the base on the ocean. The boats in which the students were loaded had been used in left-wing anti-base protests many times before. One high school girl died in the accident. A teacher died, too. More than a dozen other people were injured. As many commentators in Japan have pointed out, the young girl’s death was not accidental. It was caused by the left-wingers’ loading innocent kids onto rickety old boats for the sake of a political cause. The left-wingers killed the young girl. Maybe not directly, not with their bare hands, but her death is on their consciences (if they have any, that is).

Ditto for Jason Arday and the leftist professors who wrung him dry, cut him loose, and left him to die in the aftermath. Claudine Gay is still alive, thank God, but the same thing could easily have happened to her.

Seeing a pattern here? Leftists treat humans like disposable conveniences. Just ask the more than 65 million children who have been aborted in the U.S. over the past half century. Those are political murders. Someone killed those children to effect a political goal. Not a conservative one. A leftist one. Murder for politics, death so that boxes can be checked on a political game board.

It’s the cruelest stunt. Using someone because their characteristics, or their existence, can further a political cause — this is cruelty distilled. And it’s very much a proprietary attribute of the seemingly incorrigibly racist and murderous left.
