Power Corrupts

Socialists may gain control of the three branches of U.S. government

The dilemma we Catholics face in every election is having to decide which flawed candidate to vote for. Few Catholics in politics have the courage to buck their party’s platform and speak up for traditional moral tenets. The Catholic Voter Guide says one may not vote for an enemy of religion or freedom, “except to exclude a worse enemy of religion or freedom. In such a case, the exclusion of the worse candidate is the object intended, not the evils the less bad candidate might do.”

In the recent election I perceived Biden as the worse candidate because he has kneeled to political pressure and compromised his faith to nurture political support. Biden’s position on abortion is untenable from a Catholic perspective, and he knows it. The theological ban against the intentional taking of an unborn human life (and profiting by it) is not something casually swept aside. So I consider him to be an enemy of Catholicism.

If he is sworn into office, I expect to see his apostasy continue by reversing Trump’s religious freedom gains. Biden may try to pack the Supreme Court, to tilt it liberal with a leftist majority.

I dread also that he may die in office, making Kamala Harris our first female president. She was considered the “most liberal, compared to all senators” in 2019, according to GovTrack, the nonpartisan government transparency watchdog. She helped overturn California’s Proposition 8 against same-sex marriage, and she played a key role in prosecuting David Daleiden and Sandra Merritt, of the Center for Medical Progress, who have exposed the sale of aborted baby body parts.

Biden will be the second Catholic president after John F. Kennedy. Buzz about JFK being a faithful Catholic, beholden to Pope John XXIII, was much ado about nothing, as he proved to be a hypocrite in Hollywood bedrooms. Biden has been favored by Pope Francis, because Biden is Catholic and they agree on radical socialism.

Lord Acton’s nostrum that “power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely” will surely be displayed if Democrats win the Senate and pack the Supreme Court. Lefty socialists will then control the three branches of our government and get drunk with power. I expect Biden will readily yield to radical demands.

Devout Christians could see great tribulation in this age, for we must endure many hardships to enter the kingdom of God (Acts 14:22).
