Pew says decline of U.S. Christianity continues
The Pew Research Center has recently issued new data on the decline of Christianity in the U.S., a decline they say “continues at a rapid pace.” Below is a link to the Pew survey results. A few highlights:
– 65% of American adults now describe themselves as Christians, while those who describe their religious identity as atheist, agnostic, or “nothing in particular,” now comprise 26%, up from 17% in 2009.
– Now one in five adults (20%) are Catholic.
– More Americans now say they attend religious services a few times a year or less (54%) than say they attend at least monthly (45%).
– Only 49% of Millennials (those born between 1981-1996) describe themselves as Christians.
