The NOR has received a solicitation from a candidate for the presidency. It doesn't matter who he is.
The letter says: "As good Republicans, we're all in favor of a strong national defense and in confronting head on the Islamic terrorists who threaten us. And as good Republicans we're all in favor of lower taxes and smaller government."
The letter also says: "Abortion: I'm 100% pro-life.... I believe Roe vs. Wade should be repealed...." As does the NOR.
The letter also says: "Protecting Marriage: ...marriage [is] a sacred bond between a man and a woman...." The NOR agrees.
But how many realize there is a disconnect here? Should the government regulate marriage? This is not smaller government. Homosexuals are asking for the state in essence to privatize marriage. As Ronald Reagan said, "Let's get the government off people's backs."
If the state were to outlaw abortion, we would have to begin policing back-alley abortionists, and then send them to jail. This means bigger government and higher taxes.

|Talk about fitting square pegs into round holes. Most what the author writes is non sequitor.
"If the state were to outlaw abortion, we would have to begin policing back-alley abortionists, and then send them to jail. This means bigger government and higher taxes."
OK, substitute most any crime. Do we just selectively decide which crimes not to prosecute so we can reduce the size and scope of government?
"As for a strong national defense, that also means bigger government and higher taxes (or higher taxes for our children). ... As for a strong national defense, who knows what the Dems believe?"
Oh, please! Democrats (aka, the Marxist Party of America) have been trying to debilitate and otherwise destroy our national security and military readiness since at least Jimmy Carter. FISA courts established under his administration operate in near secrecy and covertly overrule military and intelligence operations. And what about Jamie Gorelick under Janet Reno who codified prohibiting the military and FBI from communicating and led directly to 9/11 attacks. (The media covered for them and blamed, guess who? Bush!) Placing socialite socialists like Valerie Plume in the CIA is typical of Democrats, handing out plums and diluting our intelligence community.
NOR should show more discretion that to publish such tripe or is it coming right from the Office of Tripe at NOR HQ?

|There will probably not be many posts on this one as you managed to gore most of the sacred cows in the political corral. The tithe to the state will increase as the state continues its growth from both "ends" of the political spectrum.

|Making abortion illegal would save many lives even if it only shut the clinics and forced the providers underground. Overturning Roe would leave the matter of legality to the states to do this. They wouldn't have to spend any more than they do now to bust a drug ring or house of ill repute.
